Check out what the students in Mrs. VandenBush's classroom are doing in art! Some of th lesson ideas I come up with, but many of these ideas come from other wonderful art teachers!
Hi Leah, these chickens look amazing. If I do papier mache with 3rd grade their work never seems to be precise or smooth like these. Did you just use newspaper? What did you use for the base shape? I also love the colors.
DAY 1: We used pizza circles cut in half and ball of newspaper taped to each side. Then another ball of newspaper for head. We used paper towels rolled tight (like a hot dog) 2 of them for the neck. We taped neck onto pizza circle and opened the top up like a V to tape on head. Last five minutes each kid got a little clay to split in half, make 2 cicles and then flatten. (These will be feet) I went and poked dowels in for holes) I fired so they were ready for next class. DAY2: Paper Mache in colored construction paper of their choice. Emphasized getting it really wet and smooth. DAY 3: Glitter Gloss and students crimped or curled pre-cut strips of paper for their chickens while I one by one called students to hot glue legs/beaks/eyes/feet to a piece of cardboard. DAY 4: More paper strips and added various colors of green shredded paper
Here's the very basics of chicken care every new chicken keeper needs to know and understand before they jump into chicken keeping. chicken wholesale near me

I love these? I see it says you used a pizza circle cut in half for the body. What is a pizza circle?
