  1. I love these! I would love to know what size paper you used for this and was it just folded into the lantern shape and glue holds it together? also what wire did you use at the top or is it string? Water color paints?

    My email is itsmecassiemae@gmail.com

right now my after school art kiddos are studying Japan and this would be PERFECT! Hope to hear from you soon!

  3. I used 12 X 18 paper and the kids used templates like the first picture to trace cut. Then the took a painting from Hokusai and drew outline with extra fine sharpie. Used Water Color pencils for the small areas and liquid water color for the rest. They each had 2 pre-cut black tag board squares (7"x7") and had to trace a smaller square and cut out. I hot glued the lantern together and hot glued the black squares on. Two hole punches on top and very thin wire to hang. Some classes added a decrative string and bead!

    2. I was wondering the same! Does regular construction paper work or do you need rice paper or watercolor paper?

  9. I love these too--thanks for the directions! Could you share what kind of paper you used? I have Blick all media paper but wondered if you just used construction paper (which would be a lot nicer to my budget). Thanks again~
