Could you post how they made these? It looks as if they pressed patterns into the surface. How was this done? How did the students achieve the organic, leafy shape that reminds me of draped fabric?
We used terra cotta clay and I had students roll their clay into a ball. Whatever shape it made is what they used. (They pulled off a little clay before to use for circles on base). I had stamps they used to create a radial design on their clay. Then they balled up newspaper and flipped their clay over the top to form. THen used their fingers (one finger underneath and then two fingers on top pushing down around the finger underneath) to create the organic edge effect. Then attached circles for base and let dry ontop of newspaper over night.
